It would help if you could take more than one lesson a week, however practicing what you are learning is more important, you didn't say whether you were able to ride more than once a week. See if you can make arrangements with the stable owner to possibly help out with doing some work for him or her in exchange for extra riding time. The more time you are able to spend riding, the quicker you will improve. Riding requires building up certain muscles in your legs, and balance. If you can get in more riding time practice without using stirrups this builds your muscles up much faster. I used to do this with allot of our students who could not afford to buy or lease a horse.
If they allow you you to do this, don't ride the same horse all the time, because each horse has a different stride, by riding different horses you will become a better rider and more confident. When we owned our stable I used to train horses to sell as well as schooling our lesson horses, I probably rode 6 to 10 different horses a day. I always rode without stirrups at least 2 or 3 times a day to strengthen my muscles after awhile you get to the point were you can ride any type of horse comfortably. Just be patient you will get better. Good luck.

You need some lessons whilst you first begin using, for safeguard's sake. Additionally, when using continuously put on a helmet, no matter which riding type you comply with, even stock seat (western). As an alternative than signing up for an indefinite length of time, you perhaps competent to convince your moms and dads to can help you take just a few classes - say four or 6 (or even simply 1 or 2), and then reevaluate the trouble. If on hand, workforce classes probably much less expensive than confidential, or semi-exclusive lessons. If the real reason your mum and dad don't need you to take lessons is fiscal, then you may also need to earn the cash your self. If you happen to receive an allowance put part of it apart for classes. I do know you wish to have lessons now, but you can also need to wait and take them latter in case you have saved up ample money. Don't forget its no longer just the price of the lessons, but in addition the price of attending to and from them. Possibly, you would save up and go to a summer season camp with a excellent driving program. Would that work as a compatible compromise together with your father and mother? A summer time camp would have a precise starting date, and a particular ending date. It would be for a set cost, and now not be an ongoing rate. When I was within the third grade, my Brownie troop took staff driving classes; two women per horse, buying and selling off leading and using. After I was within the sixth grade my father and mother purchased my sisters and me a Shetland pony. I now think that, that money would were higher spent on riding lessons instead. Despite the fact that i'm center-aged, I wish to take lessons, to support my seat. A just right seat is imperative for excellent arms. A just right seat and good hands permit a rider to keep up a correspondence effectively along with her or his mount. I currently should not have entry to any equines.

You need to just keep practicing I used to be stuck in the same situation! And yes i know it really stinks! Just sit on the ground at home and practicing sitting up straight with your shoulders back and tall. Pretend that you are riding and hold you hands up like you are holding the reins. Posture is half of your battle. I don't own a horse or lease one, but at least I can call the horse i use in my lessons mine. It will take you more than three months to really see huge improvement, but even just the little things like sitting up straight and shoulders tall and back. Also you can use a bike for great practice. Pretend the pedals are stirrups and remember HEELS DOWN. Practice posture and use your handlebars as reins. You can even rise into 2-point/halfseat by just standing up on your pedals. This helped me and my balance, heels, and posture a lot!
Chack and see if you can try leasing for maybe a month. Make sure you feel confident enough to ride on your own!
Practice makes perfect!

Here in Missouri we have an old saying. Wet blankets make good rider and good horses. It means, that the more you ride, the better you will get. It takes time. Once a week will still get you time in the saddle. If that is all you can do then tat is all you can do. I personally think that the more time the better but it is ultimately up to your parents and thier wallet.

Don't give up .Keep taking the lessons and ride, ride, ride. Have fun don't think about any thing else by being part of the horse, feel it under you , feel the way it moves and relax and move with the horse. Try to feel the muscles move and move with them. When i was learning to ride my father would not let me ride with a saddle. He wanted me to become one with the horse.

Every rider hits plateaus when riding. you can't move up a level, until everything you have learned up till now is done almost automaticlly, without having to think about it. I understand it is frustrating, but you have to be patient with yourself. If your parents can afford it try to get in two lessons/week for a while. It also helps to watch your instructor teach other lessons. It can give you insight to what your instructor is trying to teach you.

The lessons will definitely help, but it's the practicing that will make you improve. Learning to ride a horse is challenging. Keep at it and you will ABSOLUTELY get better!
Remember to always have compassion for your animal. He or she is learning just like you are, so be patient with yourself, but also be patient with your horse.
