nitrous itself is just nitrogen(non-flammable) and oxygen(non-flammable on its own, but makes other things burn faster or explode). it can blow up when stored in a tank and exposed to high temps.

No, Nitrous Oxide is not flammable by itself, but one of the main ingredients is oxygen, which makes an already burning fire burn even faster and hotter, which is why drag racers love the stuff. By the way - not that you would, but Do Not breath this stuff intentionally. It can kill you. The nitrous found in a dental/medical office is a more friendly mixture, but racing nitrous is much more dangerous. Offhand, I do not remember the mixture ratios, but I do know about the difference.

It is a Gas and most gasses are but, I Don't know. Mixed with Oxygen(Nos) it is, they use it to make cars go faster.
