They should learn the language of the country they choose to live in. My ancestors did.
If you are learning English, this is not a good site to learn it. Too many people butcher the English language here and use a lot of abbreviations.

I'm very sympathetic to people who go to live in other countries and can't speak the language. I live in China and my Mandarin is dreadful. I lived in Greece, and my Greek was getting pretty good before I left, but I was still reliant on English.
However, if I planned to remain in one country for the rest of my life, I would make a point to learn the language. In the US, it is a necessity. We are not very tolerant of people using other languages, mostly because we are ignorant of other languages, or what it is like to immigrate. I think it would be good if we were more open-minded about this matter, but I see nothing wrong with expecting every citizen of a country to speak the first language of that country.
I have to agree with Juan Carlos. English is not one of the most difficult languages to learn. Chinese is considered to be, but that has more to do with the characters than with pronunciation or syntax. There is no concern about subject/verb agreement, and tenses are indicated with a qualifier that is the same no matter the verb or the person. Next are the Slavic languages, beginning with Finnish, I believe. These are so difficult because they have so many declensions. We don't have to worry about those in English.
English is very irregular, and this causes problems, but it is not difficult to learn, relatively speaking.

First, it is false that english is one of the most difficult language. As a matter of fact, is one of the easiest and that is why so many people speak around the world. The most difficult are chinese, russian and some tribal dialects since they have many complex pronounciations. Anyways I came to USA three years ago and I spoke very little english, but i engaged in as many conversations with Americans as I could, and I always watched TV with the captions on, and that helped me a lot.

English is considered the second most difficult language to learn. Chinese symbolic is first. English is put as so hard to learn because so many words of the english language bash the rules of the grammer. And there are so many expressions for certain items and jobs, etc.

I have great sympathy for new-comers who cannot (yet) speak English well.
I always ask myself how much of their native language I am capable of speaking or understanding. The answer is precious little!

I would start learning from watching TV and then check into an adult school or college. You will pick it up in no time
