The most obvious way to be good at tennis is to have good form on your strokes. The only way to improve that is to constantly play. Listen to what instructors say about how to hit a shot. Practice the form they teach you, but don't be afraid to make adjustments if it works better for you. After all, if you watch the pros, almost none of them have textbook form.

Practice..in front of the mirror. Make sure you are using the right form. Get your racquet back early and bend your knees. Hit all the balls waist high. Your foot work and being prepared are very important. Most of all have fun.

Got to a place that you can get privets with a coach. Even if you don't practice with a coach see if you can get a ball machine at the place you play at and practice.
