If you've ever seen a spider spinning a web outdoors, you will note that they use the breeze to drift from place to place while laying down the structural strands...
Apparently it's easy enough to do the spiral part once they have a bunch of strong radials.
Perhaps the moving air from your AC is just right in that spot for your little buddies to ride the wind right to where they want to be....???

I presume it 'spits' it web across the walls and works from that.
It could 'spit' the web onto a wall and then walk across to the other wall.
Why not go and ask a Spider directly?

He starts the process, pinches it off, strains really, really hard then lets loose! If he's good he hits the far wall, if not, the web knots up like a birds nest on a fishing rod. That's where cobwebs come from!

They jump. Actually, a kind of bungee jump, spinning the web filament behind them.

either by starting in the middle and swinging back and forth or by starting at one wall & climbing up & over. Once the first strand is in place it's the same as usual
