I was looking at the World Cup results and noticed that England is not flying their Blue Red and White stripped flag. What is with that Red Cross Flag? Are they injured or something?

It;s because it is England and not the United Kingdom playing. England's flag is known as St. George's Cross

The Union Jack dates from the union of Ireland and Great Britain in 1801. It consists of a blue field with the red cross of Saint George (patron saint of England) edged in white superimposed on the diagonal red cross of Saint Patrick (patron saint of Ireland), which is superimposed on the diagonal white cross of Saint Andrew (patron saint of Scotland)

The red and white is for England only.

The other flag, the Union Jack, is for Britian - which is made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and N Ireland (there IS a difference).

And the Union Jack is made up of the flags of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Since it was only England playing only their flag is used

Since it is the England flag that they use, not the flag for the United Kingdom. They are both different.

Its becoz David Beckham, Michael Owen are both injured..lol!.The apparent Red Cross sign is for medical aid purposes..! They need medical help......now.....especially after loosing to Portugal of all teams!

Or...could this have been a premonition of things to come...see what happened to ENG against POR?
