I know people have said Rooney was sent off because he said something to the ref.
But before anyone went out at the start of the match, Ronaldo went up to Rooney, said something to him and did headbut him in the back of his neck When Rooney got sent off, Ronaldo winked at him, is the headbut and wink related at all?
I personally think Ronaldo said something to him to get him angry before the match to get him sent off...

It maybe true however at this level Rooney should have been a smarter player and not reacted.

rooney and ronaldo are close. they're manchester united's dinamic duo. dont jump to such conclusions. before the match, g.neville even pat cris on the back. it shows that its all good. ronaldo did contribute the rooney's red card when he said something in cavalho's defence, which made rooney react and shove ronaldo. thats about it. and i dont think what ronaldo did would make him a B*^%&^d... the lads are playing for their country. if ronaldo did the same to an english dude, im sure rooney wouldnt have let it go either. be neutral people. i just hope this doesnt jeopordise ron's career in man utd.

Okay, its all very simple. Ronaldo knows Rooney well. He will have promised his coach to wind him up and get him sent off, because Portugal were not capable of beating England in a Straight 11 on 11 match. He did what he needed to do. Do I think its fair? No. The Ref had already blown for the foul, therefore there was no need for Ronaldo to hare it up to the ref and start mouthing off about his latest favorite boyband or anything else. Apart from all that, when you watch what happened in real time, you can see that Rooney was fouled twice, but kept trying to play on, the portugese player fell down, while tugging on Rooney, and he accidently stepped onto him.Nowt deliberate in that. As for the push on Ronaldo, big deal. Seen that a hundred times this world cup, and no bookings. Bad refereeing, bad sportsmanship, bad Swedish Coach, Bad penelty taking, bad luck. Still.....in four years time, Aaron Lennon will stand astride the world cup like a mini colossus!!!! (but England will lose in the Final to Wales.......I can dream cant i!!)

No, you got that wrong. Rooney was sent off for an extreme foul.
He first pushed two Portuguese players aside quite aggressively, and then - as if that was not enough - he kicked Carvalho in the groin, about a metre away from the referee. This was the most dumb action I have seen in football for a very long time. Rooney is a brainless potato-head and should be left out of the team for a long time.

Ronaldo is a team mate of Rooney & obviously knows which buttons to push.
Any player worth his salt would be able to rise above it but Rooney is just a spoilt, temperamental little boy.
I hope all his temper tantrums during this tournament are noted for any future career moves he tries to make. That sort of unpredictable behaviour needs to be nipped in the bud quickly.

Look, I agree Cristiano had no business in the decision thats what the referee is for but Rooney foul if intentional needed to be punished if not then the free kick would have been fine. But when he pushed Cristiano right infront of the referee then he was just being plain disrespectful and deserved the card. Some might say Cristiano was sneeky others might say he putting country before club. But whats done is done only Cristiano can tell you if it was in spite or if he was defending his team mate and Rooney needs to calm down . They both play for Man U and they need to be professional and work together for the better of man u (or atleast I hope ) Man u premier league champs 2006-2007

If so then Ronaldo did what any player would do nowadays.he played on Rooneys weakness - his short fuse. And if you believe that England don't do the same then you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Nah! it probably wasn't related. well i dont know. coz i didnt c that bit. only the winking not the head-butting. Rooney will understand. he knows that their country comes first. and ronaldo was just doing what he should have done for his country. back in manchester it'll all be fine. then if not. well ronaldo can go to real madrid or juventus as he was offered. but i dont think he will give up easily.

i don't agree with what you said, i think Rooney showed more of what we need in the England side, determination and raw passion to win, he wants to do well for the country and shows he is proud to play for them, he wants them to do well and is not happy when they don't, which is understandable. i would have reacted in the same way if someone was having a go at the ref trying to deliberately get me sent off. Ronaldo is a cheating b*$%"rd and i don't think he should be allowed to play in the next match against France.

Rooney was representing his country for god sake and was sent off for brutal act and for raising his hands. Moreover, he went on to argue with the ref. The guy is a loose cannon and a disgrace. England needs standards and Rooney demonstrates how low England has sunk.
