i'm pretty much in the same situation. i just moved to georgia and i'm starting as a freshmen. some advice that i've been given is to just be yourself, and if you're shy like me, try to be a little more outgoing than usual. someone is going to have to like you. lol.

Try to get a look at what people your age are wearing. This can differ from state to state or even region to region. Go to the mall and look around. Then dress accordingly. It may be a high fashion school and you are just used to jeans and sweatshirt. Make sure you have a great pair of shoes.

Be confident. Know yourself, what you like, how you do things, you will get respect. Dont be afraid to say hello and get to know people. Just be friendly, be funny, not too serious. Be someone who other people would want to get to know.

Bring a lunch in case you dont get asked to go with ohter people, but bring money in case THATS the cool thing too. YOu just gotta get a feel for what people are like.

Don't bring any of the slang, style of acting, or attitudes from the old school, state, or area you lived in before, just relax, see how people differ from where you used to go to school, enjoy the differences, and adapt while still keeping your self worth and personality

Don't tell people you like songs from an American movie set in Japan, when they ask you what singers from China you like. And, if you don't have a decent answer to a question, or at least an amusing one, why bother to answer? REPORTED!

Remind yourself how great you are every day,. because, you are. Remain confident in yourself. Don't try to fit in with anyone or do something to "fit in". Just believe in yourself and obey the golden rule. people will be drawn to you. especially in the highschool setting where everyone is trying to figure out who they are, believing in who you are and where you are going will draw people in.
