I am getting a EIDE warning during boot up. The message is informing me that I need to back up my harddrive. Does this mean I cannot fix the problem?

Most likely your drive is "dying", thus the warning. I have seen this on two computers of friends.

You are on BORROWED TIME! I suggest you buy a drive ASAP and copy your old drive to the new one.

An excellent and FREE program that makes an EXACT copy of your old drive to a new one can be downloaded FREE from a company called Acronis. I have used this program several times and it worked flawlessly and quickly.

Correct answer ((mrresearchman))

Some drives or systems come with an option ((Smart boot))
This lets the person no if the hard drive is ready to die. It's a way of saying back up system before it crashes

They won't because they can't. American media is a multimillion dollar a year business. But if they were to pay for all the over time to cover up those lies? Well, in a nutshell they would all go broke.

Depends on what te warning is. But having a backup won't mean you can fix it. Just make a back up as soon as possible, so that if you lost you data unwillingly, you can restore them later.
