ok first you must check your computer for adware and spyware....if you don't have spyware software installed go to download.com and download spybot S&D...does a great job....secondly try unplugging your modem wait 30 seconds and re-plug it in....this "power cycles the modem"....also try installing Ad Aware from download.com....this will catch all adware on your system....also delete your cache from internet explorer....also make sure your hard disk is defragmented...good luck...

well, other than the some previous comments that were added, i think there may be a problem with your telephone line. like a distortion.
i experienced frequent disconnections when using a dsl connection.
when i connected the telephone line to the telephone i heard a distorted sound + dial tone, even when i was talking to another person using the telephone.

You may have spyware. If you aren't running any anti spyware you should get some and run it.

Windows Defender is free from Microsoft. Go here to read about and get it - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Spybot and AdAware scan for and remove spyware. Run them both about once a week. Get them both free here - http://www.download.com

That will probably get your computer perking again.

could be a virus/spyware, but it could be your system resorces are low, if your using XP do this: Ctrl+alt+delete and look at the bottom where it says CPU usuage, and if it is over 75% go to processes and see under the CPU what number is real high and if it is something that doesnt need to be on, end process, otehr than that, might wanna try restarting.
