I LLOOOVVVEEEE to drive! And am pretty good at it, and I have a massive road trip coming up at the end of July, SUMMER HEAT, Baby I am praying for a Summer Breeze... atleast I'll have the best company imaginable!
So many driving instances I could think of ... but one jumped to the front of my mind, and though it may not be considered the best response, it's the one I want to share.
Many years ago ... in a galaxy far far away... (okay I kid, it just feels like that)... I was driving back from my beloved Greensboro, with just my friend Mel, we'd been apartment hunting in a planned move away from my home town on the coast.
It was late in the evening, plenty of people out there, but not much to listen to on the radio. Stop in a truck stop (gotta love those, they have some much of everything, ya need it, they got it) and as I'm checking out with what assuredly is some cola which I know is bad for me, and maybe even some chocolate to accompany it, I browse the tape collection there at the register... and my eyes fall upon what has become one of my best purchases in history. John Denver and the Muppets Christmas album (yes it was December).
Okay at the time I thought I'd buy it for the novelty of it, for the feeling of Christmas. And I liked John well enough, he's written a lot of good driving songs, and also (well I don't have to tell you, but) am a huge Muppet fan, wearing my Kermie shirt at the moment!
So I persuade Mel to turn off the rock/static for a bit, and let's give the tape a whirl...
Within just a few beats, the merriment level in the car absolutely skyrocketed (am playing it now for atmosphere, Christmas in July- weehoo!) ("On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...") it was as if we'd gone back in time to some magical childhood Christmas, and were sitting around a lighted tree surrounded by friends and family as we'd sing carols together.
We giggled and tried to sing along, but laughed and smiled till our cheeks hurt, and later as the songs grew more poignant, tears would well in our eyes, and yet we'd glance at the other, enraptured in the sheer beauty of what we were hearing.
Personally I was missing John Denver, recalling his tragic early death, and also the too soon death of the Muppet's Creator Jim Henson. And yet at the same time, felt graced by what they'd been able to accomplish together and before they left us.
Enjoy your time together, make it rich and kind, with sweetness and love for your fellows. and share, as often as possible...
Thanks John, Thanks Jim, even though you're missed, we're grateful for what you left behind!
And thanks Moon for thinking so much of others that you would draw such a story for my heart to reflect on...
I'll play the CD (had to replace the tape) all the way through in honor of my benefactors and of course in honor of my friends!
This verse is for you!! - J

When i drive I listen to my oldest daughter sing to me. sometimes we listen to music (Neko case, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Nancy Griffith). Sometimes NPR, less these days though I sometimes eat cliff bars or various kinds of fruit- maybe baby carrots. I drink a lot of coffee. We don't eat fast food or drive thru stuff. Just never did. When we go on a road trip we take lots of books, paper, coloring books, hand held games for the kids. My husband and I talk a lot in the car. about zombies and revolution and what the hell happened to our lives? I don't like to drive and I'm prob. not as careful as I should be. I drive a compact car. My first car was a used volvo wagon and I worked a crappy pizza job to pay for it. I've always paid for my own cars. Never been driving while in a wreck- only in a couple minor fender benders while a passenger. My husband and I have a history of long philosophical discussions while in cars, even way back when we were "just friends" and I think we prob. fell in love in his big old Ford at some point. Hope you enjoyed this!Have a great day. Wear your seat belt:)

My first car was a Buick Skylark which I enjoyed. Music?? Oh, I usually listen to anything that happens to be on. A lot of time, I just drive in silence. I'll drink ice tea while driving - I don't like to eat in the car though.
Oh - I drive a 2001 Ford Explorer now.

examine your gadget record by proper clicking on my computing gadget, and choosing take care of, pass to gadget manager, does your sound card have a yellow question mark next to it, do you actually have a valid card listed, if no longer then you favor to verify what type you've and set up the drivers from the producer's website, no matter if that is listed this will be a lot less difficult because it is going to already allow you to comprehend what the make and sort is, and then you nevertheless favor to receive the drivers from the producer's website. upon getting them downloaded, keep in recommendations the position you kept them, pass to gadget manager, proper click on your sound card, go with homes, then go with replace driver and aspect it to the position you kept the archives.
