i don't think he's necessarily past his sell by date, he is still a very important part of set pieces and he put in good crosses. I think we do need a player like him in the squad; however, i do not think he should be guaranteed a spot in the first team purely because he USED to be one of the best players we had. I definitely don't think he deserves to be captain, he just doesn't motivate the team enough.

He certainly has.

Apart from the one free kick that gave England the 1:0 win over Ecuador, he has contributed absolutely nothing to this World Cup.

With a new manager coming in, there is a chance to make some drastic changes without losing face. And I hope that Beckham is replaced as Captain and maybe even left out of the team.

And Rooney should be left out as well, since his performance was even worse than Beckham's.

So what do you say about lampard who has had more shots than anyone else in the tournament yet hasn't scored a goal??!! No, I like the lad, but I just wished he'd scored a few of them!! As for Beckham, leave the guy alone please, he is a class footballer although I'd agree at times he has looked off colour during the last few games. However, I'd be surprised and sad to see him left out of the England Squad.

It may be useful to tried somebody different on the right side against the lesser sides in the Euro Qualifiers such as Lennon, Walcott or Wright-Phillips. Beckham has a role in Euro 2008.
