I have a bunch of wood that came from an old white picket fence that got taken down and I want to use that wood for a bonfire. Has anyone else done the same, burn painted wood? Have you had any bad experience w/ horrible fumes or smoke coming out because of the paint? Otherwise I guess I'll have to use pallets for the bonfire but I'll still be stuck w/ a lot of left over painted wood which really is a lot and I can't just put it in the trash, so I'd rather use it for something fun! =)

Definately do not cook on this fire and remember if it is lead paint on the wood then it is very dangerous.

Ohhhhh, don't do it. You don't want to be inhaling the smoke or roasting marshmallows over a fire made with painted wood. Lord only knows what toxic chemicals are in the paint. You're just going to have to load those pickets up and take them to the dump.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, because the paint my emit dangerous fumes. But if you do so anyway, make sure people aren't around until all the paint has burned off.
