You obviously are qualified because you've done the job in your country.
First I'd visit the local post office and ask for information on applying for a position as a postal carrier. There may be an online application or they may require that you fill out the application the old fashion way using a pen and then turning it in to the appropriate office.
Second they may require you to take a pre-screening test that tests your ability to remember numbers and street addresses, etc...
Third depending on the hiring need you may have to wait a while before you get an interview depending on how well you did on the pre-screening test. I'm assuming there will be a test ... if not then they may place you on an eligibility list for up to a year.
You should get more specific information on the hiring process when you apply.

You have to be a postman in the United States you have to be a citizen, there are only a few positions for a resident alien. One is a rural carrier, you would take mail to people who live in the middle of nowhere. there is a postal exam you have to take, you can go to the book store & buy a book that helps you prepare. this can get you even a small job so that when you become a citizen you are in the door.

Call the Post Office and ask if those with green cards can work for the Post Office. Even if they can, you have only a slim chance to get a job. Military veterans are given a 5 or 10 point preference on the Post Office test. This means even if you score a 100 it will be years before you are offered a job interview. I'd look for a different line of work.

Getting the job as Postman is not easy. You have to find a post office that is hiring, and you must pass a written and timed test (the 473 Postal Exam).
Check out this web site for some guidelines: http://federaljobs.net/usps.htm
A good book to give you and extra edge is: The Book of US Postal Exams, which can be found at: http://www.uspostofficejobs.com/
You can find more at Amazon.com:

To find a post office that is hiring try: Post Office Jobs: USPS Employment Opportunities: http://jobsearch.about.com/od/governmentjobs1/p/postofficejobs.

Have you thought of working for United Parcel Service (UPS)?
Check out: https://ups.managehr.com/
The job is very similar, but it is easier to get. You might even apply for the job and work for the country where you are at now, and then request a transfer to the US. That way you will have a job waiting for you in the US.

I think you have to be a US citizen as it is a government job. You also have to take an exam, but it is free. You have to score a 70% or higher in order to get put on the list of possible applicants. This website should help you out.

Just fill in the forms, if you've done and like that kind of work you should score easily. Do check that you're moving to an area of high employment first though, Americans don't have much sympathy w. the unemployed.

as long as you are legel to work in the usa then it is okay. And yes it is easy. Go to your local post office, pick up an application and fill it out. Also ask if their hiring. Go to a couple post offices and fill out applications at all of them. good luck. An american's driver licence is reqired though, so if you don't have one yet, then go to your local dmv office and get one first.
