I wouldn't use the computer after about 15 years... but by then it will be so slow and out of date, you'll probably have a new one.

They can last for as short as a month to as long as 20 years or longer. It all depends on the quality of the HDD and Mobo. But if you are looking at the lifespan before it becomes obsolete, I would say 2 to 3 years. After that, the CPU and Mobo will not be able to handle newer applications. I still have a 486 that is still working that has been with me since 1991. It still plays Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition. Heck I still have the 7 floppies to install it.

hmm not sure on a mac. i have a pc that is 6 years old. the parts still work, no problems. but technology has advanced so much i don't use it because its slow. the parts have lasted but they obviously haven't kept up. after a while it just makes sense to buy a new computer then upgrade or replace old machines. good luck.

Motherboards should last forever, so long as they aren't subjected to power surges or overheating. Hard drives should last a very long time if kept away from dust, heat, smoke particles... et cetera. As far as usefulness, Macs have a much longer life than PCs.

Well different parts last differently. There are many things will affect the life of the parts. For moving parts they do die faster then non moving parts.
