The world soccer cup is the biggest event perhaps this year, and I've noticed europeans have no problems watching the games, while in the middle-east, it has become a major issue, where one company is holding exclusive rights and shooting the prices high. Watching the world cup on TV will cost you around $300. Or else, you have to get running to cafe's, ask for favor from people to allow you to watch it. They dont sell the tv rights to local TVs.

I have to pay for the tv license. That's just over £100 a year. But then that covers everything on tv, so technically the world cup is free...
England is a nation that is mad on football so the channels love to show it and get a lot of viewing from it. But now England is out, there's gonna be so much less enthusiasm!

Hi guys, They are showing free live telecast of the games at the India Sweets and Spices in Los Feliz. Big screen TV, and cafeteria-like atmosphere. Not a pub, but at least you can get some grub! Address: 3126 Los Feliz Blvd, Ca 90039. (I'm gonna be there for tomorrow's game against Bangladesh!)
