Why is the soccer team England why not the UK?

The UK comprises Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. They all have their own Soccer Associations and there is far too much money involved to ever think of making a UK team (except in Amateur status). There is talk of organizing a one off such team for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

simple, because the United kingdom is Scotland, Wales and Northern Island too. (Scotland & Wales have thier own teams)
