I would rather die on my feet! At least then I would have been able to live my life to the fullest without regrets. If you regret then life becomes not worth living.

I would rather die on my feet and that is proven by my love of skydiving. A couple years ago I had a hard-landing which shattered my ankle. I, obviously did survive, but now the arthritic pain brings me to my knees and I so regret not being able to skydive anymore. But I made the best of it and now I bungee jump-- head first, of course!

My goal was to live hard, die young and leave a good corpse. Sounded like a good plan at the time....
One out of three isn't all that fun, when you end up paying for all your living hard later.
So, I'd recommend leading a full life, but not one where you set off metal detectors from all the plates and pins holding you together.

A philosophical question you have asked. Many would rather play if safe rather than take risks.
Life is for living. Being sheltered, not taking risks........is existing and not living.
Go for the opportunties. And the adventure. If need be, drink life to the fullest. You will not be coming back for a second chance.

When it is just a question we might have all kinds of exciting ideas of what we would do, fly all over the world, max out the credit cards and do everything we have ever wanted to do. When it really comes down to it you might be surprised at what you would do,
Love of your family and friends is really all that matters.
