It may be the officers don't want you getting physical, so they don't have to injure you trying to restrain you.

Plus, even though you're a small woman, you can still kick a shin, knee, or a groin. They aren't being paid to get bruised or abused.

If you were not breaking the law and causing yourself to be arrested you wouldn't have this concern.
I've seen many a 100 lb female be a physical threat. The tight hardware, as you call it, is because it is physically easier for females to contort OUT of handcuffs that appear securely locked.
Were you acting respectful at the time? What is your description of being respectful?

I assume that you were being transported in a prisoner van?
Restraints are necessary when transporting prisoners.
I've seen very small females take down big police officers.
And, what's 'non-standard' about hinged handcuffs?
I'd rather use them than the nylon restraints, which can be accidentally put on too tightly, especially if the prisoner is struggling.

First of all to be put into hand cuffs you deserve it, because the only way officers put you in cuffs is to protect themselves. Think about those hard core criminals 6,5 in height and weight 300 pounds. I guess your saying that officers should carry mutiple size cuffs for all types of people. Yea, right. Never. I support the cops. If a person brakes the law in any way put their behing in cuffs until the cops get to the bottom of the solution. I give props to the officers who go out into society to protect and serve keep up the good work. To all you criminals watch out for the cuffs. Don't brake the law then you won't have to worry about cuffs, hows that.

As you were DWI they should shove you in to the trunk of the police car
I am quite normal person love to drink mess about etc but drink driving kills kids I have seen it, two young girls walking home along a path way, a drunk driver smashed into them killing them both. This could have been you as the driver, these police men see this sort of thing almost everyday, they probably get pissed off.

I work in a jail, using handcuffs and shackles has nothing to do with your crime, your sex or your size. It has to do with rules and regulations. If you are a prisoner there are rules to follow no matter who you are. I find that for the most part if folks don't like the treatment they get in jail they should make sure they don't come there anymore.

I have seen small females do a lo of damage when on drugs or when trying to get away. if they were non-standard you have a right to make a complaint. If they were following procedure there must have been a reason.

Well don't do things that would involve the police getting into it, and they won't have a chance to use such hard ware on you.

I'm sure that there will be some that sympathise with your situation and agree with your premise. However, I do not think that they will constitute the majority.
