Unfortunately, Dude, I don't think a majority of the people answering didn't read the question. Is about CANCELLING service ya'll!
I have had AOL more than once, I didn't learn the first time I guess. I had the most incredibly aggravating time trying to close my account. They hassled me so bad, I hung up on customer service and didn't get it cancelled on two seperate occasions. I ended up having to CLOSE MY CHECKING account to get the service stopped.
The sad thing is that in the contract that you have to electronically sign with AOL, there are pages and pages of fine print. Among those tiny words are the statements that you actually agree to have them argue with you about cancelling your service, you also agree that they can get into your account until THEY want to close it. These are things that you never have a problem with until you decide you want to cancel. It is a very 'water and air tight' contract that favors AOL and AOL's finances.
I live in Ohio, and I get where you are going with the question about where is the customer service area in Arizona, I called Arizona for disconnect too, and Had they been any closer to where I live, I'd have hunted that extremely aggravating laughing man down and wiped that smirk off his face, because he drove me to the brink of insanity trying to cancel my service. I am adding this to my watch list to see if Arizona has to call Maine for customer service...
Here is a link to a wonderfully funny audio about how AOL REALLY treats their customers....

Yeah canceling with them is so hard because they keep offering you stuff and won't take no for an answer. Best way to cancel is fax it in and request cancellation letter. Alot of people use aol because it's easy to use just not easy to cancel lol. I feel your pain

I will never use AOL again.

I have learned that AOL ONLY wants your money - not your satisfaction. The fact that they knowingly stole money from me after I cancelled my subscription with them only to be offered another month free told me all I need to know about these thieves.

I have AOL and have never had a problem with it. It might have just been that you got a jerky rep. Don't let it jade you on the whole company just because someone was having a bad day.

Hi. I live in Buffalo, NY. A couple of years ago I got a cd in the mail from AOL, the same thing happened to me. You just have to "fight" with them.Eventually they'll get sick of hearing from you. Like you said, don't sign up with them.

Man one time they tried to charge me $149.99 for a supposedly 6 months free trial. But after about 3 months of ignoring their letters i simply called them and they solved everything, very nice people. God Bless America.
