I think that depends on how responsible the kid is and what age they are babysitting for.

I would have to say 13 and older. The babysitter needs to be mature and I would recommend taking a course on babysitting and First aid skills in case of emergency

Obviously, it depends on the person -- how responsible they are, etc. It also depends on how many kids and how old they would be watching. More kids are more difficult to watch. But I would say 13 to 14 would probably be a good guideline. Check to see if there are any babysitter's courses offered in your area. They teach new sitters what to do in emergencies, as well as how to care for and entertain kids of various ages.

I started when I was 9 but I am making my son wait until he is 12. It all depends on the child and the amount of time they have spent taking care of children under adult supervision (younger siblings, neighbors, etc.).

14-15 any earlier to me would lack repsonsibility. There is alot to watching children at any age.
