I thought my period had begun because I had started bleeding a small amount, so I put in a super absorbent tampon. I know it was stupid of me, but I forgot I had it in and left it in for way too long, almost 12 hours. But then when I took it out, there was nothing on it, so I guess my period hadn't even started and it was a false alarm. I started feeling sick not long after taking the tampon out. Could I have TSS even though I wasn't menstruating while the tampon was in? Please Help!

I also have a loss of appetite, which doesn't seem to be on the list of symptoms that keep coming up when I search on the web.

I seem to be getting a little better, I began feeling sick on Tuesday night and it's now Saturday afternoon. Would I be feeling worse If I had TSS?

That is highly unlikely! It takes longer than that for you to be affected with fever if you had toxic shock syndrome. Don't worry, the sick feeling is likely unrelated. I had this happen once about 7 years ago. I thought i was having my period early, so i used a tampon, but it was not my period, just something my doctor called implantation bleeding. I was freaking out after i removed it cuz for days i was nauseous, and lightheaded. I went to the doc about it and she said i was pregnant. wow what a relief. you may have just been getting sick already, and as luck would have it, it happened at the same time as the tampon thing just to panic you. you should google the symptoms and signs of TSS and see what they are just in case, but i wouldn't worry about it, like i said it is rare, and highly unlikely! hope this helps!!!

It is very unlikely that you have TSS. Not one tampon will cause this, you have to have been using them for years. Have you ever noticed that when you worry or get scared about something that you start to have side effect symptoms?? This is very common when you worry about something as threatening as TSS can be. Maybe this will make it a little easier, men can get TSS because it is not always related to tampons.
