Well the faeries were originally called the Tuatha de Daan (first word my be spelled wrong) Some people say faeries were human sized but with golden skin the color of bronze, with no imperfections. They were also immortal but had no souls. They had a faerie king and queen. They also lived on a different plane than our people. They once lived with humans but because they had so much power they posed a threat and moved to a different plane. They also made a contract saying that no faerie would take a human life. But this is just the myth. The truth is Faeries a like humans but smaller. They were simple garments and have wings. They are shy creatures and have a glow around them. They have magic and are kind (if you are kind to them). They are mischieveous, but hardly harmful. They are not hidden in places like Ireland and Scotland because the people there believe in them and mean them no harm. But in places like the USA. how many people that saw them wouldn't try to keep them in a jar? It is a matter of their own survival. There also used to be a lot of them, but now there are very few. This is the truth, they do exist, many people have seen them.

There are many different types of fairies. Some determine weather, such as the Acalica from Bolivar, others are the guardians to human fate, such as the Spanish Aloja fairy. Some, In fact most fairies are curious yet malicious creatures. One fairy, the south American Bakru, was created to serve as a familiar to witches. The Bannik is a fairy that watches saunas and bathing grounds in Russia. And in Melanesia the Bariava are harmless tree fairies. In some cultures the sight of a certain fairy named The Bean Nighe foretells certain death. Fairies are known to steal human children replacing them with a child of there own call led a ch angling. This child is usually very sick and despondent. To reverse this you must Make the child laugh using a certain spell. In each culture the Main Fairies have a different name. Some fairies can be very friendly such as the house fairy which will hel[p you with cleaning as long as you leave it treats of fresh fruit. To really know more about these facinating and complex mystical creatures that novelists such as you and i enjoy writing about you really need to get this book: THE ELEMENT ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MAGICAL CREATURESBY JOHN AND CAITLIN MATTHEWS. It is wonderful and has so much detail.

Some legends maintain that Faeries were the first children of Adam and Eve, who hid them in the shadows from God. They could be ugly or beautiful, benevolent or malevolent, human-sized or gnat-sized. The Germans of old thought that they caused bad dreams, and thus called nightmares alpdrücken, or "elf pressure". Because an offended fairy can cause trouble, it is wise to refer to them as "The Good People" and to leave out a little bread from a new loaf for them to find and to let a little milk run onto the ground for them when milking a cow. Some famous faeries from literature can be found in the work's of Shakespeare, like Oberon the fairy king, his wife Queen Titania, and their son Robin Goodfellow (affectionately called Puck). While faeries like the Christmas Tree Fairy or fairy godmothers would seem powerless without their wands, traditional faeries almost never use such things to practice magic.

Faeries are earth spirits. They live among each element completely hidden. They have cousins called Pixies. Pixies however, are very mischevious. They enjoy tormenting other creatures for fun. Little pranksters.. I hope you never meet one. Pixies have a bad reputation for finding a creature and clinging to them until death. Faeries can be somewhat close to a Pixie, but mostly they are loving, playful, and carry with them a child-like enthusiasm for life. Hide among the pedals of a Daisy.
A fairy, or faerie, is a spirit or supernatural being that is found in the legends, folklore, and mythology of many different cultures. They are generally human like in their appearance and have supernatural abilities such as the ability to fly, cast spells and to influence or foresee the future. Although in modern culture they are often depicted as young, sometimes winged, females of small stature, they originally were of a much different image: tall, angelic beings and short, wizened trolls being some of the commonly mentioned fay. The small, gauzy-winged fairies that are commonly depicted today did not appear until the 1800s.
I hope that helps a little. Good Luck with your book

Fairies have magic powers which perform both good and bad deeds. They can fly, change shape and make themselves invisible to human beings. Most fairies are usually helpful, but there are several who behave mischievously and occasionally act cruel. We must keep in mind that the fairies are governed by a code of ethics far removed from our own.We have no idea of the life span of a fairy. We believe they are immortal, however, there have been sighting of fairy funerals. Throughout history, stories of the same fairy looking and acting the same are told, we can best guess that the fairies life span is at least several hundreds of years.
I love them...

Fairies come in different ways. Like what type of fairy cause there are flower fairies, ice fairies, ocean fairies. Lots to choose from. Well, first of all fairies have attitudes sometimes and are very beautiful and care how they look. THey are very picky and only likd the sweetest treats. They look like a small gjrls with (depending on where they are from) a dress that matches there surrondings. Like an ice fairy would wear a snow dress and a flower fairy would wear a dress made of flower petals. They are usually very trick and are kinda mean with their tricks. Make the fairy in your book kind of rebelious. I can't wait to see it published.
Hope this helps.

Fairies are like little people, with wings. They fly around, some have wands, and do all sorts of mischevious things. They live in places like Neverland and a land far far away, and are very cute. Ever seen Peter Pan? Tinkerbelle is a fairy! Look em' up on google.com.

Once upon a time when I was a small child-I had a loose tooth that finally came out...I stuck it under my pillow because my sister told me that my fairy godmother would give me money or something like that...well,the very next morning, soon as I woke up,I checked-there was a five dollar bill under my pillow and a cookie.
I never got to meet/thank her though-I'm so torn!!!

A couple things I found while researching my own fantasy novel-
Never call fairies fairies, apparently it insults them. They prefer being referred to as the "Little People" or "Good Neighbours."
Fairies were first considered things to be wary of. To avoid, some tips are- wear your clothing inside out, wear blue, carry around a cross (?).
E-mail if you want more tips, specification would be handy.
