For french music, I like Noir Desir, and Debout Sur Le Zinc. AND DID NOT like Louis Atique or attak, however you spell it. For Korean rock, I like Crying Nut, Cherry Filter, and Youjeen. I really don't like bands that sound too American (beat, style, instrumentation) in their sound.

French rock groups: Noir Desir is very nice, Louise Attaque (new group of the year 2004 , I dont know them and I think they dont deserve our attention). My favorite French rock groups: Telephone, Trust, Starshooter,and then Rita Mitsouko, les Negresses Vertes, Zebda, Carte de Sejour, Mano Negra, Indochine (and also Têtes raides , which i don't know)

Put these two in your répertoire:
1) If you like New Wave (late 70s - early 80s): Plastic Bertrand. He's from Belgium. Some of his best: "Ãa plane pour moi" and "Tout petit la planète". And "Stop ou encore" is a classic. It's a bit corny, but lots of fun.
2) Jean Leloup (don't say the "p" in Leloup) (mostly 90's): He's from where I'm from (Québec). I find that he's one of the best we've ever had here. Some of his best: "Isabelle" - extremely upbeat, "I Lost My Baby" - don't be put off by the title, only the chorus is in English (4 sentences). It's really nice and catchy. Vocals and acoustic guitar. Easy to learn if you play guitar. "Go, Johnny, Go" is vg also, good beat. It has NOTHING to do with the Chuck Berry classic 50s song of the same name. And "Printemps Ãté", very funny if you understand French, if not, it's uplifting just the same. One of my favorites.
