I'm going to Vegas in late October. How soon should I book the room. Rates on-line seem high right now. Do they go down closer to check-in date when the hotel is reviewing capacity or is it truly the-sooner-the-better?

Actually if you book between 30-90 days in advance, you're sure to get lower rates(I am Owner of a Travel Agency); the closer you get to your departure date, the higher the rates will be.

I would recommend TRAVEL WITH STEPHEN; they offer customized Vacation Packages to Las Vegas(Air/Hotel/anything else) at very reasonable prices. If you happen to want something in particular, it is adviseable to call their convenient toll-free number; they can assist you in getting a customized, reasonably-priced Vacation Package. They have a website, as well.

I would say book as soon as you decide when you want to go, I am going in August and I booked the first of March, rooms are now $10 more expensive a night. Most hotels promise the lowest possible rate if you book online. You only have to pay the first night deposit at the time of booking, and the rest is charged upon checkout, they are cancelable within 48 hours of arival. A Las Vegas vacation is easy to plan, I dont see why anyone would need a travel agent to do it for them.

I have been to Vegas a lot and my brother lives there. If you are going the best and least expensive area to stay in is down on Fremont Street. It is also really awesome down there. Bars on the street, live band on the street good food and it is a $6 cab ride to the Strip. Anywhere you stay or eat on the Strip you are going to pay top dollar for. But if you want to stay down there call and do it over the phone it is always cheaper and if you do it that way the closer you get to the date it usually gets cheaper. I will tell you the Luxor and the Monte Carlo and probably going to be your least expensive. I have heard that the Stratosphere is inexpensive but it is really far at the end of the strip and you still have to take a cab to get anywhere so you might as well stay on Fremont Street. Hey while you are there check out the Star Track Experience. It is awesome and there is a killer bar/restaurant called Quarks (not sure on the spelling) Have a good time.

Go to the hotels website and see what the rates are. Prices of rooms in Vegas are really getting high, but book right now. If you book through the hotel, they require payment of one nights room rate, but if you find something cheaper, you can cancel in advance and get your money back.

Once in awhile you can get a cheaper rate by booking a air/hotel package, but sometimes it is better to get the hotel by itself. Figure out where you want to stay and do some research online. Weekends are always high, so try to go Sunday through Thursday for the best price.

I'd start thinking aobut it now - but do a search online to see if there's any conventions going on. If there's conventions or another big event going on, I've found that most hotels raise their rates. Don't be afraid to call the hotel and ask them for a better rate either. They offer the highest rate they can first - called "rack rate" - that everyone gets offered, but often, if you ask "Can you do better?" They can. They'd rather sell the room at a discount than have it empty, making them no money. That works better about 3 weeks before date of arrival.

If I were you, I would call some of the hotels directly to see when the best time to visit will be. Las Vegas is one of the largest convention cities in the USA (Rivaled by Orlando, FL and San Diego, CA.). If there are a lot of conventions going on (or one major convention like ComDex) the rates will be skyhigh. If you are flexible, you can get better rates.

You will also be wise to go to sites like www.expedia.com www.travelocity.com www.priceline.com and www.hotwire.com to see what kind of deals you can get there.

Good luck and happy travels!

I use bookingbuddy.com, which has the cheapest prices on everything, and last trip to Vegas I booked 6 months in advance as everything sells out as you get closer. I believe it's never too early, others laugh at me, but I usually stay at better places for far less by doing it my way.
