Yes, it will kill it or the meat will just stink.
Put a little sugar in the trap (a little) if you want to attract bugs or place it near a bug source.
Put the hamburger near the plant if you want and when it rots it will attract flies.

What are you related to the adams family? You dont need to feed it just keep the soil moist. The only thing it cathes a few bugs for is it fertilizes itself If there are no bugs around in your house ,I want to know how you did that, but in that case a little fertilizer to enrich the soil will keep them happy
