I pulled the lawn mower string to hard and it's still working but the string won't recoil is there a way I can restring it myself?

The recoil spring has slipped, or broken. A little more information would be helpfull, like what make of engine. Briggs, Techumseh, Honda, Kawasaki, ?? How old is it? 1 month, one year?, 10 years? Can you find some numbers on the engine for identification?
It can be fixed, I do it every day. Thats my job. Well, that and other repairs to mowers, generators, tractors, etc.

It is probably jammed between the real.
Follow the string to see where the problem is.
