The central nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, is what controls movement. This is in association with the peripheral nervous system. The brain is highly complex and able to process sensory information rapidly and accurately, most of it without us being conscious of it - these are reflexes. In addition, there is a part of the brain, the primary motor cortex, that is responsible for planning movement and then executing it. It is highly connected and receives info from other parts of the brain/body and then sends it via the spinal cord to the body to move. In addition the cerebellum helps integrate fine motor skills. It is a highly specialized and extensive system that makes us able to move like we do.
As for emotions, the heart is a muscle and nothing more. Of course it's an incredibly capable and powerful muscle, but it is not the part of the body that humans use to 'feel'. Instead, the brain is once again responsible, particularly the amygdala and hippocampus. These structures are implicated in emotional learning, and in conjunction with other areas of the brain and especially the prefrontal cortex, are what make humans to have emotions and feel the way we do. Although people often talk about feeling with their hearts, it is not the way it is. The brain is responsible for everything we think, do, feel, or say. However, without a heart the brain won't receive the oxygen that it needs to sustain our brains.

Our brain controls all the bodies functions using a combination of chemical and electrical messages that travel through the nervous system to the entire body. It controls our emotions in a similar fashion.
The heart is basically a very elaborate pump, that pumps blood to the whole body. The belief that our emotions are controled by the heart stems from times when people were very poorly acquainted with anatomy. It is presrved now mostly in litrature, or just a figure of speech.

It's all in the brain....hate to tell you but it's true.
Everything starts with the brain, and then the brain sends pulses to your nerves to have you react to certaint things. It's like a control center.
You can't feel with your heart, that is just a term. Your heart is a muscle in the body just like any other muscle in the body. When you feel an emotion be in fear, anger, sadness those are just chemical responses from the brain.

Well, we don't literally feel with our hearts. According to science, there's an area in our brain that deals with emotions. I'm guessing it releases certain chemicals at times to help us react with emotions. Personally, I believe this is only partly true and that there is a spirit involved that helps to tell which emotion. Still, in science, what it comes down to is that both emotion and movement are controlled by the brain. Movement is a conscious action, one we make ourselves (save for blinking, breathing and other things like that), and emotion is a subconscious action.

I don't think this is a science question.
The brain is the logic portion of what you do. the heart is the emotional reason you do things. Alot of times, the two conflict, either by passion or by reasoning

feeling by heart is not fully scientific. brain controls the various organs which in turn control various activities of our body. this control depends on our emotions also(!). heart is one of the organs controled by the brain in this way. in turn emotions control our heart which influences its beats and working. hence common people simply say that v feel by heart just as they have known 4m thier vpredeccesor just as v do.

It's all about the nerves. You have different nerve connections to your brain to different parts of your body. So say something hurts your hand, then your nerves in that hand send the message to your brain. I don't understand the question about your heart.

Have all these people who write words like "juz" and "there" instead of "their", been to any school? It is getting unbearable. Why do schools let them graduate?
