20 years ago, you couldn't have convinced me to ride a bike with a windshield then, in 1990, I bought a 1984 H-D Electraglide and now have a 2003 Heritage Softail ( both have windshields ), and you couldn't convince me to ride without a windshield now.
True. Riding a bike is about being "In The Wind" but, after riding at highway speeds for a few hours ( literally holding on to the bike, catching bugs and the occassional road debris ), I was worn out. Having a windshield has NOTHING to do with being "In The Wind" , it just blocks it from beating you to death through your entire ride and catches 99% of the bugs and other crap that might get kicked up by th eother traffic.
Ride without a windshield ? No way, not me. And, once you try it, you'll be amazed at the difference it makes and your opinion will most likely change also.

For short rides, and day trips where the speeds are around 50MPH average, a classic bike without a windshield is nice, if it didn't have one to start with. Sometimes putting one on really destrys the classic looks.
If you're planning a longer trip, where you'll be riding for 8-10 hours a day straight, maybe a few days at a time, then a windshield will really reduce road fatigue, and rash. It's all personal choice, but any experienced rider puts common sense first, and looks second.

I have 3 bikes...one with a windshield and two without. What I ride depends on where I ride and with whom. My preference is riding with the windshield. Reasons are obvious.

I would prefer a windshield
The bugs really hurt so I wear a helmet with a shield, but this reduces the visability

I prefer no windshield, but that's only because I like naked bikes. There have been times I've wished I'd had one!

First bike had a Windjammer and winshield. Hard to see in the rain. The bike I have now is naked. I like it. It is fatiguing though. Takes a while to get used to. I am sure I could find one that looks OK, but I think I prefer without. I have a shield on my helmet which is easier to wipe while riding, and a leather dickie cause it hurts when a grasshopper hits your neck!

well on a motorcycle i have never been on one with a windshield but it might be nice.. less bugs and things getting in your face...course i know we have to wear helmets now..i think it would just really be up to the individual person.... i wander if the windshield is made out of pretty good material...cause i think it would need to be myself...

Prefer a windshield..that way, I don't have to have the safety visor down on the helmet...more wind and more comfort..less confined feeling.

I tour and a windshield cuts down on fatigue over long hauls. I like my tall one in the rain and my passengers like it in high winds.
I have a shorter, sportier one, that cuts fatigue but is not worth a flip in the rain.
The first time it catches a rock or junebug at 75 mph, its paid for itself.
