Jeez, dont go spending money where you dont need it. Trust me, I tried it and it didnt work. First off, depends if your car has the 4g63 (they did make some non-turbo), or the 420a engine. Both can be turbocharged if they are not already, and that will give you the most significant bang for your buck. Cheap mods like chips, cam gears, etc. will only give your car power in an area that it lacks in, such as timing issues when you change cams, or shift points when your power band changes. It all depends on how far you want to go with performance. If you're looking at a light bump in horsepower, freeing up intake and exhaust with a cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust will help. Dont for any reason change the intake if you're not going to change either internals or the cam. It will do you no good. Sure, you'll make awesome power in the 3-8K rpm range, but what if your car still redlines at 6K? If you're really looking for some power, consider tearing the motor down, building up the bottom end with some pretty radical dished pistons, throw a bad-*** turbo on there, run cam, headers, intake, and even throw about a 50-100 shot of nitrous on there if you've built the bottom end well enough. Also ditch the auto if your car has one. 5-speeds seem to have much better reliabilty. Good luck with your car and hope this helps.

For all the money these guys are suggesting you spend, just ante up for an early EVO.

All the EVOs run the same basic motor - the amazing 4G63. it's in a fairly different state of tune in the EVOs to its other uses though. Even without alterations any EVO with decent tyres (235/40/17s) should be in the 13s at the strip.

Simple bolt-on mods (exhaust, AFC, boost controller, dyno-tune) will take up to a second off that - and the mid-range will be much better. Spending money on a new ECU, Turbo, Intercooler, intake & filter will all reap big rewards too - but cost more.

Yank out that weak engine out and throw a 426 hemi in it. Make that thing fit some how.

"chip" it, you can get a chip for these new cars that can change settings in the engine and even in the transmission they are available on line or in performance shops. this is easy and cheap and will really turn you kitty into a lion.
