The highest official score of a college football game was recorded in 1916 when Georgia Tech beat Cumberland University 222-0. The highest score of an NFL regular season game is 72 points, scored by the Washington Redskins against the NY Giants in 1966. The Giants scored 41 points in that game; combined, that total (113) also makes for the highest aggregate score in an NFL game. (Note that the Chicago Bears scored 73 points in a game in 1940; however, the Redskins' record stands because they achieved it following the advent of the "modern era" in the NFL).

In college football, at least, here are the largest recorded point totals:

Georgia Tech beat Cumberland 222 to 0 in 1916.

In 1980, Oklahoma beat Colorado 84-42...124 points is the highest by two teams without an overtime in the modern era.

In 2003, Arkansas beat Kentucky 71-63 after seven overtime periods, marking the highest point total by a losing team.

The highest point total by a losing team without overtime was Purdue losing to Minnesota in 1993, 59-56.

In 1991, BYU tied San Diego State 52-52 in the highest scoring tie game ever.

Hope this helps!

I think back in the early days of football, when it was only played by Ivy League colleges, there was a game when Princeton beat Holy Cross ("The Total Loss from Holy Cross") 256-0.... I can't imagine what that game was like.
