I think although hitler slaughtered more then 6million jews and other undesirables, stalin may have been one of the cruelest becaue of his paronoid self, and his philosophy that everybody was out to get him, and his cruel treatment of the ukraines.

I think you are right; the difference between Stalin & Hitler is the difference between "Cruel" & "Evil". Hitler did what he did systematically , with a plan and a desired (by him) outcome. This is evil; he knew what he wanted and he set out to do it. Stalin, on the other hand, was unpredictable and capricious. He commited the atrocities he commited because it seemed like a good idea to him at the time. No one knew who he might suddenly turn on, or when it might happen. He kept people, even his inner circle, in constant terror, which he probably enjoyed.

Evil is a plan; cruel is a whim. Although people tend to think of 'evil' as the ultimate in "bad", I think cruel is just as bad, if not worse, due to the unpredicability factor.

I'm not a christian, but according to the bible, that would be the big man Adam, sinning for all the rest of us and pissing God off so bad that he blames all of humanity for Adam's actions. Way to go Adam!

The cruelest human who ever lived (at least in the truest sense) is someone who actually had their hands in the cruelty. Hitler and Stalin, and the other bad leaders stood by and ordered others to do their dirty work, but they had little to do with the actual cruelty.

On the other hand, someone who sat down with a victim, cut off each of their toes as slowly as possible, gouged out both of their eyes, removed strips of skin, and then poured lye or salt over their wounds until they went into shock, on a daily basis, gets my vote for "cruelest human" that ever lived.

Hitler is numbered as one the cruelest humans. Stalin is right up there with him. Whoever (the Romans) ordered the nailing of Jesus to the cross after beating him unmercifully is number one. Other cruel humans are Manson, Ted Bundy, Osama bin Laden, and any of the mass murderers. murderers and rapists. Many of Hitlers minions were very cruel as well. Hitler had Dr.s preform surgery on people without any anaestetic.

Nah. Hitler himself wasn't cruel. He wasn't interested in torturing Jews, just ridding the new Germany of their adverse influence.
Stalin killed no less than 10 million, mostly his own people, and no one can even guess how many Pol Pot killed.. So while your remark concerning Hitler is politically correct and will appeal to the Jewish cult of persecution, I think you are mistaken.

The Cruelest human ever would have to be Oliver Cromwell, or Count Vlad Tepes. Maybe Torquemada.

I don't think there is one answer to your question. Recent history would say Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein...then Stalin, Hitler but how far back should we go, Ghengis Khan, Saladin, the Crusaders. Humans are inherently cruel our need for power, greed all make us cruel.

You are correct in my opinion because Stalin killed way more people than Hitler and did in far more tortuous ways. Stalin is just not as well-known as Hitler and , therefore, they are not viewed on the same level.

You answered your own question, because Hitler and Stalin and also Idi Amin in Africa were the most cold-blooded killers in the world.
