You see that little clock thing in the bottom right corner, there should be a few icons and the little speaker one should be there. Check the settings on it and make sure it's all set up correct.

Otherwise contact me and I can help you more.

Have you checked your volume on your computer? There's also the possibility of your wires having breaks within them, so it might just need a shake to see if it'll start working. There's also a sound driver issue, if you have a sound card hardware installed, which needs coinciding software. These are the normal issues. Sometimes it's your actual speaker plug in. This doesn't happen though, so I wouldn't worry about it until you've tried all those other options

Some times the drivers required for a device such as your sound card are not included on the windows xp disc. Go to the sound card manufacturers website to download the latest drivers.

Uninstall the drivers and then reinstall the basic drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard if you have them.

Also update to the latest drivers on all your components.
Check volume levels - make sure you have the speakers connected correctly.

Try uninstalling the drivers, then reboot, your sound should kick in. If that doesn't help, download new drivers, uninstall the old ones, install the new ones and reboot.
