i want something magnetic, as i did purchase a grill...and a metal bit for drilling into the door,,but had no luck!! thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need to be a bit more specific here.... why magnetic? And what kind of protection do you need for the screen?
You can get a screw on 'decorative' screen grille, that will keep dogs, and children from pushing thru the screen. These are usually made of aluminum, and come in a variety of finishes, or can be painted to match your door. You can find these at a local hardware, or home supply store.

Most screen doors are aluminum and magnets wont stick to them. Your limited to screws or double faced tape.-Good luck

you can buy self adhesive magnetic strips or glue them on to the grill you already bought!
