My friend phone is a motorola V188 and the service is for T-Mobile. Is there anyway that I can get it to work with a Cingular plan, b/c when I put my SIM card into the phone I get the message: Enter Subsidy Pass...0

Any help or explaination would be greatly appreciated.

Take it to the Cingular store and see if they can reprogram it.

Use these following steps; and you should be able to use CINGULAR as the provider for that phone...

-start by opening MENU
-followed by SETTINGS
-scroll down to NETWORK
-then select AVAILABLE NETWORKS
-then choose CINGULAR
-then click on VIEW
-and finally press REGISTER

If you are unable to access the MENU screen, either go to a T-MOBILE store, or ask your friend to use her SIM CARD to access the MENU screen for you. And have her switch the phone to CINGULAR. It will have no affect on her SIM CARD, just on the phone itself.

GOOD LUCK!!!

P.S. Oh yes... you can try to get the phone UNLOCKED, but usually you will have a hard time finding a store that will UNLOCK it for you. The reason for that, is they would rather sell you a new phone.

I thought if the phone uses a smart card then you could use the smart card in any other phone that uses smart cards. Call Cingular, they should be able to help you.

You can go to www.theunlocker.uk.com. I think that's the website and they have programs to unlock phones so you can use it with cingular.

You have to have it unlocked, and you'll be able to make and receive calls, and even text, but not use the multimedia function or Internet. Just call around to some of your phone shops to see if they know where you can unlock the phone.

You need to have it unlocked. Call around to stores that sell phones and plans for various carriers and oneof them should be able to do it for you. It ususaly costs about $20.

You can't... Phones are manufactured for certain carriers. You can try switching the Sim card but I still don't think it will work.

if you're in London, go to Tottenham court road on Saturdays, you'll find a guy that unlocks it on the computer fair. Another place you can find such a service is in Queensway, the computer fair is open all days...
