The water company sent out letters to their customers, a water survey. So I was reading because I did not really have anything else to do. Right in the middle of it it said that the water was not safe to drink or to cook with unless it was boiled first, if you were an infant or an elderly person or sick. It was not safe to drink. Now tell me is that kinda scary. I mean that they would actually say that. Or is that just me. And should the company not try to take actions to make the water safer to drink?

The town I live in has barley 2000 people in it in fact the population is only 2453 and I did asked my neighbors if people have been getting sick from it they said they don’t know if it is from the water but within three block radius of my house alone in the last 5 years they know of at least if not more then 25 cases of cancer

Do you think all those cases of cancer are in fact related to the water?

I would use bottled water for drinking and cooking from now on and even contemplate moving. I'm sure they are trying to make the water safe but, depending on where you live, it might be very difficult. If you live close to a refinery, mill, or any other large plant-type area, it is nearly impossible because there's a constant, steady source of waste. Where do you live?

Get these all the time where I live. It has something to do with the filtering system. I buy bottled water to drink because my water out of the faucet tastes nasty.
I did go on a tour at a hospital on Cancer research. They found more cases of Cancer in my area which is right on the Ohio River. Then there were about 300 people here with Cancer and the farther North of my state there were only 2 people with Cancer. On the other side of the river Kentucky, about the same amount of people had Cancer, and farther south they were less.
To me that proved Cancer had something to do with what was in our water.

I don't think that letting you know is scary, it would be scary that if they didn't tell you. See this is a cover up. If anyone gets sick from the water, or perhaps gets cancer (not a proven fact that water causes cancer), they can not be sued because you received a copy of the water survey notifying you of the fact that the water is not safe to drink.
When I received my water bill this month, it stated that they would not be sending out the reports to the community on whether or not the water is safe to drink or not. We have to request it or we don't get it. I might be the first to request one but I will not be the last. This is our right to know if the water is safe. Mother's mix their babies formula up with the water. Now that is scary.

I'm not familiar with your area, but I am involved in operation of a potable water system and would suggest that you contact your state's Environment Department, EPA, Natural Resources Department, Public Health Department, or whatever it's called, and get some clarification on this. They are probably requiring your water utility to take steps to clean up their act, but you have a right to know what is being done and the more people that inquire about it, the more carefully the State will watch to make sure it's done right.

Yes, but the scary part is all the people who wont even read the letter or just skim through it and miss the important part.

Call the water co. and ask if this is true. If it is, you need to have the local authorities: mayor, city council, etc. investigate. There is something wrong if your water is unsafe to drink unless you boil it.
