If you're going to reload the os, don't bother with ME. That is the crappiest OS I have ever used. I'm still partial to Win 98, but I have XP and don't have any problems. Seriously ... ME sucks. You may as well update the OS if you're gonna redo it.

You may need to reload software drivers, but some cable companies give you the disk to do it yourself. If not, ask them to send it to you. I wouldn't want to pay $20 for someone to drop off a disk.

Why do you have to reinstall the operation system? Doesn't your system have a recovery option that will restore back to before you damaged it. Then get legitimate anti-virus software. If not, and you do reinstall the OS you will have a clean system with none of the programs you currently have and you will have to reinstall everything including your cable modem software/drivers.

no, as long as you have all the correct drivers for your computer installed it will usually go online automatically. if your using the restore disk that came with your computer then you shouldn't have to worry about the drivers unless they had to install a network card for for the cable modem.
