You make a facor tree, by putting -35 in the top and -2 in the bottom
Then, you think of factors that muliply to equal -35 and add up to -2.
Lastly, once you have the two factors, you put them into this form.
The answer is (x-7)(x+5)
The Factot tree looks like a Y with a upsidedown V on the bottom of it.
Oh, and also, if you want to check it, you put it into a punnett square form, with (x-7) on the top and (x+5) on the side.

since none of these terms have any common factors you would put it in double parrentheis . then find factors of 35 . so you would get (a+5)(a-7) and if you want to check and see if the answer is correct, do FOIL and you should get the original question back .

if you factor it , your answer would be (a-7)(a+5)

to check the answer you need to check it..
(a)(a) = a squared
(a)(5) = 5a
(-7)(a) = -7a
(-7)(5) = -35

=a squared plus 5a minnus 7a minus 35, then you'll get the answer

=a squared minus 2a minus 35

note: (5a)-(7a)
if u have the same variable then you can easily add, subtract

note: positive +
negative -

(+)(+)=(+)
(-)(-)=(+)
(+)( -)=(-)
(+)( - )=(-)

note: times can also be written as " () " or a " . "

hope you understand ^_^
