My jerk b/f says he won't marry me unless I make more than $30,000 per year. I don't think money should play such a big role. Do you?

When does money matter? Is the relationship based on earnings or on LOVE?? I would NEVER ask my spouse to earn a certain dollar amount to justify our relationship going to the next level.
If this person truly loves you, nothing should ever be based on money. A loving relationship is always based on what you feel for the person, how they feel about you, and what you picture your lives to be like in the future.
My final advice...I would be insulted and hurt if my spouse put a price on our relationship.

No, money shouldn't play into this. What about the folks who get married by a justice of the peace? These same people make LESS than $30,000 a year (far less), and are living happily ever after. Many people put too much emphasis concentrating on the wedding and not enough on the marriage itself. Remember Liza Minelli and David Geist? Maybe you should consider the fact that Mr. more than $30,000 per year should be sent packing to find Miss $30,0001 per year. You won't regret it. Love, not money is the important thing.

Lose him. If he loved you that wouldn't make a difference. How much money does he make? Money is important in a relationship, as you'll have bills to pay. But for goodness sakes, maybe he is using this as an excuse not to marry.

MOney should not play a role. It is good to have a job and show that you are participating and not just couch potato. If your b/f set a limit on your income, that is his choice. Leave and you will find someone else.
