why did air port tell my firend it expired last month they have passport and visa?

my friend got ticket in april and went to book there flight back to usa from nigeria air port said it expired last month could it be because it was not good for 90 days just 30 days

it has to be valid for 6 months,from date of dept

that stuff, MUST be written in his passport. and if he was fooled by any embassy.... oje oje. if u can prove it, than go ahead in carefull steps... if not, let it be.
