You have an exam once a month and they just check the heartbeat and size of the belly...you start going every two weeks I believe at 36 weeks then they start checking you to see if you are dilated any

first exam is usually, a pap smear, blood work, urine test, and they check your weight..usually about once a month you'll go in and they will check the heartbeat and measure your belly and weigh you (occasionally taking blood and/or urine) , you'll have to take the gestational diabetes test around 24-26 weeks and of course an ultrasound ...assuming you don't have gestational diabetes you will probably only have the one ultrasound..you will start seeing the doctor more and more often as you progress...i believe about 30 weeks you go twice a month and 36-37 weeks you begin going every week..but the same things are done at most exams (blood work, check weight, measure belly, listen to heart beat etc..also if your blood type is RH- than you may receive a RHOgam shot towards the end of the pregnancy). In the last couple of weeks you will be checked to see how much you are effacing and/or dialating as well.
