So many people already ansered 1964 and a couple have commented that it was a fav movie and still is.
You seem to already know - you could have had a lively discussion by expanding your question to - and if you didn't see it as a kid when did you see it or do you ever watch it. What was your favorite part, etc.
Hope that doesn't sound like criticism - I was intrigued by the mention of M.P. and thought it would be interesting to read some of the feedback.

August 29, 1964 and I was there. My favorite movie...at age 7.

it first debuted in 1964 but was re-released in australia in 1976
