I think first you need to understand what 'doting' actually means. Get a dictionary.

If you really feel that way honey, i think that you should startseeing other people in his face, cause that's the only cold way he is going to understand that i want to break up with him. Look for someone who can be ur boyfriend for a short time so the two of you can brak up. Cause the way i see it, it ain't gonna work the way it is now

Have you sat with him and told him exactly what you are feeling? You mention that you've told him you wanted to break up, but he is not listening and it seems to me like you don't really want to break up either. Because it takes two to start a relationship and one to break it off. So what's the problem?

If you really like him, but you just don't like that he questions every movement you make then tell him so!!!! Tell him you don't do that to him, so why is he doing it to you.

Also, why is he a secret to your family? What are you hiding? Seems to me like there is more to this story than you telling.

Fess up.

From my past experience... a doting boyfriend denotes an untrusting one... and an untrusting boyfriend.... is usually doing something he's not so proud of so projects his guilt onto you as suspicion...

I know, sounds like a lot of assuming... but just be careful.
