what would you suggest the UN to do -
if an insect or some species of animal was causing a dangerous disease but was part of a very very important ecosystem and so it would cause great disaster to kill all of it.
it keeps you thinking right?

Attempt to contain the animal/insect in it's own enviornment and get the drug companies working on a vaccine for the disease.

The UN is useless. They have proved that over and over. If the animal is causing a dangerous disease, you eradicate it from populated parts of the world. If it still exists in an unpopulated or sparcely populated area where contact is rare then that's fine. People are more important than animals no matter how rare they are. Also, the ecosystems are more resiliant than some would lead you to believe. They change but they are never destroyed unless someone paves it over or builds a house on it. Cities are the biggest destroyers of ecosystems. However, new ecosystems of things people tend to call pests develop even in the best maintained cities. Especially if they build parks, golf courses, zoos etc.

It's actually an easy question - the UN would do nothing, of course! The question seems flawed to me in the sense that if an animal/insect was causing a dangerous disease it would would be harming the very eco system in which it lives.

Since when does the UN accomplish anythng or create anything, unless it fits into their pockets.
Science has develpoed methods to sterilize insects, while preserving the species in captivity. My humble thoughts.
