Well then keep your dog..don't get rid of your dog just because you want another animal.

Just consider this--- snakes are lousy at Frisbee , but they don't bark all night. You don't have to take snakes for walks, but they won't usually scare away burglars. Dogs love to be with you while snakes could care less.Dog food is cheap while rodents aren't. Dogs can run away & come back , never heard of a snake coming back. Snakes sleep all winter, but I can't get my dog to sleep past 6am. Dogs let you know someone's coming while my snakes have made people leave. In other words, Make room in your life for both pets. You'll be better for it. Enjoy.

a snake is a cool pet but i hav no idea what would you feed them but what ever it is it should be hard to get but a snake wouldn't be tooooo much effort but a dog thats a lot of work and dogs are really cool!!

To answer your original question - it would definitely depend on your personality as which is 'better' to take care of. Certainly there are pros and cons for both! And, that's where you should start is with a list of the pros and cons.

To address your comment - do you have any idea that the dog and cat population is at its worst? To just simply 'get rid of' an animal is the worst mentality! You took on the responsibility of taking care of that animal when you decided to get him/her. Unless your health or someone in the houses health is at stake, take your responsibility and deal with it.

don't forget some snakes get big and and u might have to feed them live mice or small rabbits. make sure u check with the pet shop on how far u are willing to go in feeding it.

A dog...at least you don't have to feed it rats and watch it sit there like a bump on the log...dogs are playful, loyal, and loving pets:)
