Never say the word "I love you" until you're completely totally sure that you do!
If it's a friend's reply ->
I went through judging a girl as a dear trusted secrets' keeper girlfriend, then woke up on the "being so fast judging wraps" reality! Yeah, wraps...sometimes nice wraps carry terrible surprises!
She was a reason in a later on depression phase and a fear of making new friends for quite a time - I do regret that reply and feel sorry for its consequences on me.

I went through this too, don't make someone happy by lying to him - sooner or later he'll sense you don't feel same, trying to convince yourself that he's good and worth being loved "love don't go this way" - that's when he'll really get hurt!
Hurt him now by facing him with what you really feel than to hurt him later and then damage will be harsh and you might lose him for good too
Dear, in both cases I had terrible times later even through!

I think that depends upon the emotion being expressed. I tell many friends that I love them but if and when I find that special person I will love the most, the words have to be with actions as well, both in the asking and the answering. On the other hand, to get into a possible romantic relationship based simply upon those words, without the actions as well, there is a danger and the answer should be qualified perhaps. " I love you too! You are one of the best friends I have!"

No, the answer is really no. Life maybe short but do you really want to live life telling someone that you love them when you really don't. Life is short, which means you should let the people who you really do love that you love them. Don't waste time telling someone that you don't love that you do love them. How would you feel if someone said that they loved you and they really didn't? I just used that as an example.

Yes, such a reply does not cost you much except making some one happy. Not that life is short, hence we should do it or the manner we do it. It is a question of dealing with another living being who has also feelings like yours and why should you hurt him or her which you can avoid.

only once did i say that phase so easily and because i knew she was for me. but now i realized giving in so easily is not a challenge for any1 to prove anything. value the challenge and the thoughts of them not being weak minded.

life is short , that doesn't mean that you should tell i love you to each & every body.who tells you that he/she loves u.ofcourse i don't know w hat do u mean by love. love is of different types. parental love, friendly love ,neighbourly love, huband/wife's love. children's love towards their parents, in that sense yes u can love one & all. but if u say i love u too to all they might mistake you.
