Our tomatoes are disappearing right off the vines before they're ripe enough to eat! We're told it's probably squirrels because we live in a suburban area (limited critter options.) Does anyone have the recipe for "Hot Bite Spray" from Jerry Baker's book or any other suggestions??? Internet says fox urine, but these squirrels are so domestic and suburban, they wouldn't recognize a fox as a predator. I'd rather go with something natural, not chemical. Thanks, guys!!!

Sprinkle Cayene pepper all aroung the tomatoes and the Garden you can use black pepper but Cayene works better. Really I feed the birds and I started doing this around the feeder and they want to but they don't like pepper it gets on their feet and then they taste it. It doesn't effect the birds good luck try it okay!

A dog would be my best bet.

Well - one that likes to chase squirrels.

Red pepper spary would work. The "recipe" is not high science. Crush and steep hot pepper in a quart of water for a few days. Strain, pour it into a spray bottle, add a couple drops of dish soap. Spray on tomatos. You'd have to re-apply it after each rain.

putting some cord cages, like tomato cages, with some cord around them ought to keep the critter out of the flowers. that's a theory. I observed and heard some barking canines and different toys that made noises when I walked via them in Walmart. employing one or 2 of those ought to artwork.
