My girlfriend and I are in the same field as you (www.duelwave.com). We had flyer the local community colleges / colleges, and libraries first. Once you get some flow going put an ad in the newspaper. You can use your local independent free press to keep your cost low. Last but not least is build a website. Websites are good marketing enhancers. It is time consuming at first but it is worth the effort.

Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! and Google
A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:
1) Create a blog pertaining to your field
2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!
3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.
4) Advertise on Craiglist
Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

the most basic is put up flyers (advertising papers) and other ways is pay people to tell it to everyone or go from door to door and pass out flyers, there's to many ways to advertise... and I'd also like to advertise sculptures that I make.
