I don't think traditional Rock and Roll is dead, I think it has evolved like it has since its inception. Additional factors include the popularity of Rap and other alternative music. I am finding a lot of kids (my son included) to be going back to Big Band and traditional Jazz (seems odd for my hippy kid to be listening to Count Basie and Louie Armstrong).

I think what is really killing music is the Disneyfication of music - the Brittany Spears, Lindsey Lohans, and others with marginal talent. If you don't play an instrument, then you are merely a singer and not a musician.

Of course it isn't dead. Go out hit the pubs listen to live music in your home town. Be supportive.Bubble gum, manufactured music, pop, all that has been around for a very long time. In a lot of ways rap is an extension of beatnik and R&B? Ever heard of Aretha?

Not a chance...Rock will be around forever....There is still music in the world you just have to know where to look....many of my friends and I are starting a movement to boycot rap, R&B, pop and any other modern "music" that does not fall under the Classic Rock style....Please help in boycotting the over rated "music" of today...

Hell no. It will live on forever, even if the greatest bands have already graced our presence here on earth.
