I HATE awards shows. Self-Centered arrogant celebrities recieve awards for making movies and music, when their only intent in the first place was to make millions of dollars for themselves.
They should make an awards show for our soldiers when they get the purple heart and other medals. They should make awards shows for single mothers who labor to raise their children when the father splits town.
It makes me sick when a bunch of pompous millionaires waste 3 hours of our TV time to give each other pats on the back for making lots of money.
I can't believe the entertainment industry gets away with this. Can you imagine if the oil industry started making awards shows for themselves? It's just as ridiculous.
Don't get me wrong. I have my favorite shows and actors, but the whole award thing is just stupid.

I like to see a star i Denzel win the award. I like seeing Hallie win the Academy Award. I liked to see Hillery Swank win too. They came from nothing. They made something famous of themselves. I loved Bettie Davis too. I loved her talent.

I agree true heroes of life should be recognized. And a good way to do that would be a display of showing our military getting awards and citing what they got them for

It's like awarding the Honors student a plaque and giving the Football Quarterback a trophy. They are being honored for their acheivments in areas where not many people can suceed. Acting is an art - they derserve a night to be awarded for all of it without money or fame; just an acknowlegment at their pure talent.

I agree, there should be award shows for more important things, than watch these celebrities get these things for no reason , and while some of them treat some of the people that are smaller than them like crap, there should be an award for the people that actually change something in the world,or did something to derives it.

They give awards because the public watches the shows....I do like award shows, but I also agree with your points. I also think that there are way to many award shows, and they are getting to be very boring. The only award shows I really like are the Oscars ( but they are getting really boring lately), the Grammys, and the Tonys.
